Its knowledge of book printers and binderies allows it to provide each customer the best combination of quality, price and delivery time. It deals with printers from Alaska, the Lower 48, Korea, Thailand and China. It is always exploring the world for new, higher quality and more competitively priced printers – many in specialty areas such as playing cards, pop-up books, board books and comb bound cookbooks.

Todd Communications holds a U.S. Customs bond for entering books into the U.S. at the most competitive rates and has expertise in shipping printed materials from New York to Barrow, Alaska at the best possible rates. It frequently ships full container loads of print materials from the Lower 48 and Asia through the port of Seattle which enables it to obtain better freight rates than those shipping smaller quantities.

The company bids printing projects based on job specifications for three or more quantities so the customer is able to see how much the unit price is decreasing as the print quantity increases.

Wholesale book distribution – Todd Communications is Alaska’s only statewide wholesale book distributor. It maintains warehouses and sales staff for same day delivery in Juneau, Anchorage and Fairbanks. It sells to more than 800 customers throughout the state – virtually every wholesale book customer in Alaska. It also sells almost every map, atlas and Milepost sold in gas stations throughout the 49th state.

Many customers buy their books only from Todd Communications. This is because it enables them to purchase the works of more than 250 publishers – from the major New York houses to individuals with one book - with a single purchase order, single delivery and single check in payment.

Its sales staff also serves the Parks Highway, Matanuska Valley, Kenai Peninsula, Glenn and Richardson Highways to Valdez by driving these routes and delivering books at no cost to stores there. Its Juneau salesperson now serves Wrangell and Petersburg by putting her car on the state ferry as it does for deliverys to Skagway, Haines and Sitka with no additional freight charges for customers in those communities.

The company sells books to every book store in the state and many gift shops that maintain book sections. It also supplies Alaska books to the Ingram Co., the largest book wholesaler in the U.S. Because Ingram is Amazon.com’s principle supplier of books, all books sold to Ingram appear on the Amazon.com web site.

Todd Communications offers Alaska companies and individuals one stop shopping for all services needed to take a book from the author, photographer or fine artist’s hands at completion to bookstore shelves. It also provides the four services on an ad hoc basis so customers may pick and choose among its services as they wish.
